Trusted Mobile Solutions, Inc. (tMo) and Swan Island Networks Announce Strategic Alliance to Extend TIES Information Sharing Capability to Wireless Mobile
Launching end-to-end high-assurance, highly secure information sharing
for the wireless mobile marketplace
Portland, OR – July 10, 2007—Swan
Island Networks, Inc., a recognized leader in the design and deployment
of trusted information exchange solutions, and Trusted Mobile Solutions™
Inc. (tMo), the provider of industry-leading products and services
enabling highly secure information sharing for the wireless mobile
market, today announced a strategic alliance crafted to extend the
highly secure information sharing capabilities of Swan Island’s TIES™
(Trusted Information Exchange Service) to wireless mobile devices.
Swan Island’s flagship TIES solution was launched in 2003 as the
platform for Connect & Protect™, a community-based information sharing
program. TIES has grown to serve federal, state and local government
agencies, port authorities, private businesses and other critical
infrastructure, and public and private safety stakeholders including,
most recently, the Hawaii Hotel and Visitors Industry Security
Association (HHVISA). Swan Island also has completed a new strategic
agreement with ESRI S-GROUP, to distribute the TIES-based Connect &
Protect managed service to government and enterprise customers in the
European Union.
TIES is an Internet-based managed service that aggregates disparate
sources of information with alerting and notification services, then
ensures targeted, rules-based information dissemination to PCs and other
devices. TIES provides geospatially based situational awareness to end
users and enables authenticated stakeholders to share information in
Communities of Trust.
tMo’s solutions are based on the powerful back-end technology developed
by Swan Island Networks, Inc., and enhanced with leading edge technology
from vendors including Microsoft Corp. and Cisco, Inc., for mobile
devices, wireless networks and integrated web tiers. This includes
security role-based filters, device type security, transport level
security based on open standards, audit trails, and geospatially based
watermarking for messages sent from mobile devices. tMo’s rendering
capabilities include installed client applications for Windows-OS mobile
devices and mobile browsers using WPF, including iPhones, Blackberrys
and Web phones. tMo’s offerings will be provided as smart, thin client
applications for mobile devices and as a hosted managed service, or as a
suite of software products and services for customers’ internal
networks.
“tMo leverages Swan Island Networks’ TIES’ strengths, including user
authentication and authorization, data aggregation, and targeting,” said
Charles Jennings, CEO of Swan Island Networks. “And, it will extend TIES
by providing end-to-end security and assurance that’s far beyond
anything seen in the mobile market to date. This is particularly
important for first responders and incident commanders, who make
critical decisions in the field. They need real-time information. This
is the way to get the information to them where they are, when they need
it—within a high assurance system.”
“TIES is an extremely effective technology solution for Internet and IT
infrastructures,” said John Ballantine, CEO of tMo. “tMo adds the one
missing element of this solution—the ability of information, in a highly
secure form, to be communicated to mobile devices. Using TIES, tMo can
deliver sensitive intelligence, security, and business continuity
information, plus targeted alerts and notifications, with new methods
for high-assurance mobile information sharing. Mobile users can transmit
sensitive information from the field, with watermarking and other
security features, so it is truly assured two-way communication.”
